The Department of Hotel Management and Catering

The academic programmes in this Department are designed to address Uganda's hotel industry which is closely linked with the tourist industry which forms one of the World's largest industry with an enormous potential for expansion. The hotel and hospitality industry in Uganda is continually growing especially as more private entrepreneurs venture into the hotel sector.

With the added number of upcoming hotels, new vacancies will therefore be created in all the departments of the hotel industry. Therefore there will be need for more knowledgeable hoteliers, with appropriate social, practical and technological experiences. The Department therefore offers academic programmes to meet this challenge to produce skilled manpower to meet the national and international catering standards.

The degree and diploma programmes provide students with the pre-requisite foundation in the fields of Hotel Management and Institutional Catering. The students are also equipped with practical skills and subjected to an industrial attachment that last for a minimum of three months.
