Department of Tourism and Environment
The Tourism and Environment is one of the strategic departments
of the School of Hospitality and Environment Studies (SHES).The Department
offers a range of training opportunities mainly focused on management training
programmes, primarily for would be managers from the East African region and
beyond. Others are targeted at upgrading the managerial capabilities of indigenous
cadres in the tourism and environmental sectors.
Essential to the School's goal of excellence has been the
evolution, and development of Customized Training Programmes covering Tourism
and Travel Studies and Environmental Management. The Department offers both
short and long-term programmes that are regular contributors to the specialized
and general management requirements of the region. Ad-hoc programmes, developed
and orchestrated by Department Personnel, are a response to a specific request
by different sector of the economy, or private sponsors.
