Bachelor Degree Programmes
The recognition by the developing countries of the
role that tourism plays as a panacea to their development
problems has transformed the way Governments approach tourism
and travel aspects. The tourism industry in Uganda is still
growing and there is need to improve on its inexperienced
private sector in management skills faced with a stiff competition
both internally and externally. In addition there is recognition
of formal training gap of most tourism service providers.
The Tourism courses at Degree, Diploma and Certificate
Levels are designed to:
(a) Acquit participants with the roles and responsibilities
of key aspects of tourist organizations viz-statutory tourist
Boards, official development and conservation agencies, local
authorities, and regional and local partnership agencies;
(b)
Train managers to integrate environmentally sound practices
with tourism development; and
(c) Encourage participants to take a pro
active rather than a reactive stance on international tourism
issues.
The examination of the structure and functioning of the
tourist industry in various countries, with particular reference
to the respective roles of national and local government
organization forms a major part of the studies. |
Masters' Degree Programmes
| These are basically
by lectures, course work and dissertation. |
