School of Commercial/Industrial Art & Design
SCIAD is committed to education in the visual arts that will enable particularly talented young people to become leaders in the evolution of the new environment in Uganda. With over 70 years experience in preparing men and women for careers in design, SCIAD is identified internationally with the highest standards in education. |
In SCIAD we do not regard art as luxury, a diversion or as a recreation for a society bent on finding distraction in an age of materialism nor do we regard art simply as therapy for the anxious. Rather the visual arts in our education systems in SCIAD are necessary to the growth and well being of healthy and purposeful societies.
Our purpose therefore is to challenge young men and women to bring form to their evolving societies and to declare their hopes for . them in the images they shape. Education in SCIAD immerses imaginative students daily in the adventures of making form. Whether in painting or sculpture, they are asked to make visible. |
