University Library
The library provides conducive environment for reading, study and tutorials. As the heart and centre of academics development of the University, the library contributed to the realisation of the objectives of the University.
Nkumba university library’s mission is to plan, avail and facilitate access to a broad spectrum of information resources and services in order to promote and support teaching, learning and research activities of the University and the community. The library carries out basic functions of acquiring, processing, organising, storing and disseminating information inline with the University Mission. |
- To develop, maintain and promote high quality print and electronic collections that are readily accessible.
- To develop, maintain and promote user-centred services that anticipate and respond to the needs of the University community.

- Technical services Section
This section provides all technical services such as cataloguing and classification. The section is meant for library staff who organise information materials for users. It is out of bounds for library users.

Provides all the requirements like internet, word processing etc. |
Nkumba University has one branch library located on the Last Floor of School of Commercial Industrial art and Design known as the Art/Law Library. It comprises of books in the subject of Art and Law only. |
- Photocopying at 50/=per page
- Internet services free of charge
- Printing services
- Reference and Information Services free of charge.
- Baggage handling at a fee of 100/=per bag.
- Interlibrary loans

- Materials marked “reference” Reserve” are not to be used outside the library but within the library i.e. they are must not be borrowed outside the library.
- Students can borrow a maximum of 4 books for a maximum period of two weeks.
- Reserved books are to be loaned out for 3 hours only.
- Borrowed books are to be renewed once
- Any form of periodicals are strictly not to be taken out.
- Silence must be observed in the Library.
- Eating and drinking in the library is forbidden.
- Library books used within the Library should be left on the table.
- Any form of discussion is prohibited in the library.
- Nobody is allowed to reserve seats for him/her for any body in the library.
- Coats and heavy jackets shall not be allowed in the library.
- Mobile phones must be switched off while in the library.
- Membership to the Library
Fully registered members of the University and the Library are allowed access to the use the Library. Other users allowed at the discretion of the librarian.
- Library hours
Monday- Saturday 8:30a.m-10:00pm
Sundays 9:00a.m-4:00pm
Public Holidays 9:00a.m-4:00pm
- Security Desk
- Users are required to leave their bags and coats at the baggage area at a fee of 100/=
- Library Users are expected to present their authority cards at the security desk in order to be allowed in the library.
- Users are required to present them selves to the library staff for checking before leaving the library.
- Fines
- Making and receiving phone calls within the library is prohibited and it constitutes a fine of 10,000/=
- Over due books are charges a fine of 1000/= the first day and 3000/= the next days.
- Any form of noise making, discussions constitutes a fine of 10,000/=
- The right to use the library is withdrawn until all fines are paid.
- Vandalism and Theft
Vandalism and theft of library material is a punishable offence and constitutes of the following fines:
- Fines associated to vandalism and theft are not less than 100,000/=
- Also is payment twice the cost of material stolen
- An administrative fee of 10,000/=
- Photograph of the victim is pinned up on every notice board in the University.
- Counseling by the Dean of students

The library holds over 15500 collections of books, periodicals, CD-ROMS.The periodicals include;

However, it should be noted that periodicals are not to be taken out of the library. |
